Our First Market Adventure: Watercolors at Bowerbird.

This past weekend marked a special milestone for me—I set up my very first market stall to share my watercolor art with the world! 🌸

Let me tell you, it was an exciting mix of nerves, creativity, and sheer joy. From choosing which paintings to bring (I wanted a balance of fan favorites and new designs) to setting up the stall just right, the prep was an adventure in itself.

The First Market Setup

Arriving on Friday with our custom stall setup, we got to work putting everything out on display. A market stall is like a small shop- part art, part puzzle-solving. It definitely put my retail design skills to the test! After a few tries, my table was finally styled the way I envisioned—filled with vibrant floral originals, delicate cards, and a sign sharing my interior design and surface pattern services.

I was so excited to see people pause, take a closer look, and smile at my work. The positive feedback has been so great!

The Crowd

The market buzzed with energy: families strolling with coffees, kids excited about donuts, and fellow vendors chatting about their crafts. It was inspiring to be surrounded by so much creativity and community.

Meeting people who connected with my art was the absolute highlight. One customer told me my work reminded them of their grandmother’s garden. Hearing that made my day—it’s moments like these that make all the effort worth it.

Lessons Learned

We didn't have too many hiccups.. transporting the stand into the market could definitely have been better wrapped as we lost a bit of paint on the edges. And I should have brought my paints with me on Friday, bringing them on Saturday and Sunday so I could paint as a demonstration during the market was so much fun!

Thank You

To everyone who stopped by, chatted, or supported my work—thank you! Your kind words and encouragement mean the world to me.

I’m already dreaming up ideas for the next market (and planning to bring even more pieces with me). If you missed this one, don’t worry—there’s plenty more to come.

Until next time,

Ashlee
